Do I need to refrigerate my jar of Wild Friends?

Natural nut butters, like ours, do not need to be refrigerated and are best stored in a cool, dry place like a pantry. Room temperature nut butters are softer and easier to stir, making them the perfect texture to spread and drizzle - our personal preference! You can certainly store nut butters in the fridge if you prefer a thicker texture.

What is the shelf life of your nut butter?

If sealed, jars last 1 year from their date of manufacturing. Check the expiration date on the side of the packaging. Once opened, consume within 3-6 months for the best taste and texture.

Why do the nut butters have a thinner texture than I'm usedto?

We are proud to not use palm oil or other stabilizers in our products. We believe this is a healthier choice for our bodies and for the planet! As a result, the texture of our nut & seed butters does tend to be thinner, or as we like to call it 'drizzly,' than you might be used to. In order to have the best experience, as soon as you open the jar, stir for several minutes with a knife, or until the naturally separated oils are reincorporated with the nut or seed butter. Once you've stirred it really well the first time, you won't have to stir it much the next time you open it. We love to get creative with the drizzly texture and drizzle our nut & seed butters over oatmeal, pancakes, waffles, yogurt bowls, fruit or smoothies!

Are your jars BPA free?

Yes, our jars are made from BPA free recycled plastic.

Are your nuts/seedsroasted?

Yes, all of our nuts and seeds are dry-roasted.

Are your products Non-GMO verified?

Yes, all of our nut and seed butters are Non-GMO verified by the Non-GMO Project.

Where do your nut/seeds come from?

Our almonds are from California.

Our peanuts are from Texas or Georgia.

Our organic sunflower seeds are sourced from different locations depending on the time of year.

Where does your honey come from?

We are proud to partner with GloryBee (TM) and source 100% of our honey from pollinator friendly sources. A portion of every sale of our Super Butter goes back to save the bee program.

Are your products kosher?

All of our nut and seed butters are certified Kosher Pareve by the OU.

What are the white spots/coating on the surface of my nut butter?

If you find this in our Chocolate Hazelnut or Chocolate Almond Butter jars, it is called cocoa bloom.  This happens naturally when the cocoa butter separates, solidifies and rises to the surface of the jar.  Since we choose not to use ingredients like palm fruit oil to stabilize our products, this separation is likely to occur.  It happens most often in the winter time when our nut/seed butters are exposed to temperature variations.
Although this blooming is not a food safety hazard, we understand that the appearance is not ideal.  It is perfectly okay to stir the separated fat back into the jar, but we would also be happy to replace the jar for you.  Please send us the flavor, where you purchased the product, the best buy date and a photo to yourfriend@wildfriendsfoods.com, so we can track the batch it came from.
