Nut Butter Smoothies

 By Danica -- @kaleandcarrotsticks

I. Love. Smoothies.

My old roommate can attest to this; I would order an acai or pitaya bowl almost every single day. But then I realized how much money I was racking up on my smoothie tab so I bought a proper blender instead, and it completely changed my smoothie game.

Not only are smoothies a perfect way to cool down in this summer heat, they’re also one of my favorite post-workout snacks. They’re an easy way to sneak in anything you may be lacking during your day, whether it’s protein or greens. And of course, my favorite smoothies incorporate Wild Friends Nut Butters whether it’s inside the blend or on top.

I love trying new combinations, but there are two smoothies that I’m constantly going back to.

Berry Acai Smoothie
  • Frozen acai pack
  • 1/2c frozen blueberries
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1c frozen cauliflower
  • 1/2-1c almond milk

Perfect Pitaya Smoothie
  • Frozen pitaya pack
  • 1 1/2c frozen cauliflower
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2c frozen strawberries
  • 1/2-1c almond milk

These are my base recipes, but I like to add these things based on what I’ve been eating already that day:
  • 1-2 scoops protein powder or collagen peptides
  • 1-2 T Wild Friends Nut Butter
  • 1T chia seeds or flax seeds
  • 1-2 handfuls of spinach
As for toppings, I ALWAYS top mine with Wild Friends nut butter. It’s a non-negotiable thing for me! I also like to add cacao nibs, and if I’m eating the smoothie after a workout I’ll add banana for more fast-digesting carbs to replenish my glycogen stores.
